How about a paid beta version for us hardcore users? We could use it side by side to gain confidence. You should also keep the original for sale longterm as your entry level product. Keep the discount in effect while fixing bugs. Once stable rebrand as MS Pro with full retail price.
Seems like that would solve many issues.

as stated in the other thread, another vote for carte blanche to charge for new ("pro?") version, and against the monthly scheme.
the above suggestion w/ the paid beta looks good.

As Mike has made reference to "MobileSheetsPro" in several of his more recent posts, I assume that he has come to a decision on how to proceed with the new release. I just hope it is a decision which will reward him for all his hard work

Mike, do what you need to make this worth your while. I spent 30 years in the software business, albeit, a very different environment. 80% of my revenues came from less than 20% of my customers. It is those customers that you need to take care of and have a vested interest in your longevity. Realize that the vast majority of people generally don't want to pay anything for anything (see music, sheet music, piano players, books, movies, etc.) and fail to appreciate the need to support creators. To be honest, I'm not sure I really need MobileSheets Pro.
Given that I have only recently purchased your product, am a mediocre musician at best, and don't have a tremendous amount of gigs at the moment, I think I might be a good candidate for the beta testing program. Worst case scenario, I fall back to using the PDF files. Good luck.

After much deliberation, and conversations with people, I decided that I like the idea of releasing MobileSheetsPro as a separate product but at a discounted price for the first month so existing users can update at a much lower cost. This will provide compensation for the immense effort that has gone into the release (I pretty much redesigned the app from the ground up), and give people the option to stick with the current version or upgrade at their leisure. My ultimate goal is of course to make my users happy, so I'm hoping this choice will be seen as acceptable by the majority of users.
Thanks,
Mike

Mike, just to give a feedback. From my point of view this is a very good decision. I think most of the users know about the benefits they really do have from Mobilesheets and want to see you rewarded for your work and for your excellent and prompt support here in the forum. And with a pro version running two versions in parallel would be possible which is important for users with professional background.

Mike,
I think that decision is sound. And I will be buying the new version. I have two questions though:
1: Will there be any changes to the current app in the future?
2: Does Google have the ability to offer a discounted price for people who purchase the current version in the future, and then decide they need the pro version?
I know you have no control over Google's limitations, but that's just a thought I had.
Keep up the amazing work!

Certainly acceptable to me. Hopefully. others will agree.
One small point, that your post doesn't make clear, is whether or not the Pro version can/will run in parallel to the existing one? I rather suspect that is crucial for some users who would love to upgrade, but are concerned about losing everything in the event of an undiscovered bug (I count myself in that group).

I thought that was part of the intent of having a separate "pro" program. But, Mike should respond.
Mike, if you are still beta testing, I will try to help.

Yes, it will be a separate product that you will be able to run in parallel without affecting your existing installation of MobileSheets. Unfortunately, I can't offer a way for existing users to upgrade at a discounted price at any point in the future - I will just be offering the product to everyone at a discounted price for a month. This will be a great deal for any new users who happen to buy right away, but maybe that will help spread the word.
As far as the existing app, I may try to implement some minor bug fixes for critical things, but beyond that, I will not be releasing any major changes to it going forward.
Jeff - the beta test has not started yet, but I will gladly accept your help once it has begun.

Absolutely spot on - just what I was hoping for. I shall be at the head of the queue, knowing my current version will not be compromised in any way.

No more or less than to be expected.

Thanks,
Mike Hi Mike, this is a very good choice and acceptable for me. I've bought MS half year ago but still willing to pay for the new version. So I like your proposal to buy the Pro at a discounted price for the first month.

Hello.
This is my first post because I bought the app yesterday. I'm a bit confused about the the new name "mobilesheetspro" and about the upgrade. In the "news" section it says:
Quote:How much will this update cost?
The update is free for all existing users. As the complexity of the app grows, I may need to increase cost to continue supporting newer and more advanced features, so if you want to save money, it’s better to get the app now!
I'll need the app for Christmas because it's a gift (with a hanspree 13.3 tablet) to my daughter, but I decided to buy now to help in development. So I don't know if the upgrade will be free for me, it it will have some cost, if the free upgrade it's the same as mobilesheetspro, etc.
Some answers?
Regards.

The Zuberman quote, in the message above yours, pretty much answers your question.
1 Mobile Sheets will continue to be on offer, but with little or no further development other than bug fixes (not that it seems to have any).
2 A developed version (Mobile Sheets Pro) will be released, at some point in the future. This will incorporate many features that users have asked for (see other posts in the forum to find out what these are). MSPro will initially be discounted so that existing users may upgrade at a reduced price. After a period (one month?) the discount will cease and it will only be available at full price - it's really very cheap anyway.
Depending on your requirements, you may never need MSPro and what you have already paid for will be adequate - the existing version already caters for a lot of users. I certainly don't need it, although I will upgrade because I think Mike deserves the money .

The quote is from this post in the news:
http://www.zubersoft.com/mobilesheets/news/?p=310
As you can see, many of the additions in the update are features that announce on pro version only, as far as I can see ...
I don't have any objection about price of the app, only about misleading advertising.
Regards.
