It used to be that when I tapped in the center of the screen the page slider overlay appeared. As of the past few weeks when I tap the center of the screen it turns forward a page instead. Previously it only turned a page when I tapped the left or right edge of the screen. Is this a bug or do I need to do something on my end to get the page turning overlay back?

It sounds like you have performance mode enabled. Tap the sheet music stand icon at the top left corner of the library screen to disable performance mode and enable the overlay again.
