I will try to add that in the next update. Thanks for your patience.

I added this for the next update (version 2.1.2). I'll be looking forward to your feedback after testing it out.

I'm so happy you included that in the last update.

Sadly I can't get it to work for me. I tried picking different files (abc, mscz, irp-html) for which I have installed apps which are the standard apps for the formats and open from filemanagers.

In all cases I get:

No application found that supports loading file: filename

Itsme, Rob, Sciurius (my other "buttonmen"  Big Grin ) have you tried it and does it work for you?

I'll have to see if I can reproduce that using those file types. I was testing with files I happened to have on my device, including audio files, PDFs and text files (just to see if I could get those to load in other apps). What OS version is your tablet running again? I was testing on my Nexus 10 running a 7.1 ROM just I could be sure I was handling the open intent correctly on later OS versions.

Sony Xperia Z4 with 7.1. Will test on my XZ1 with 8.0 too.

I experience the same "No application found that supports loading file: filename" as Brix on Android 4.4 with MSCZ files that can be loaded correctly from the filemanager or from MSP via links in PDFs that I added with Sciurius' PDFLink script.
On Win10 there are different issues.
I'll report with more details soon.

Android: see last post
Win10: the Smart Button link works correctly.
But when I use the arrow down key to go down in the "Action:" selection list it doesn't only move through the list but causes additional page breaks so that it's difficult to go back to the original song where the Smart Button shall be placed.

I frequently use links to MSCZ files that I insert into PDFs with Sciurius' PDFLink script.
Here's an example that might be useful for testing.

For testing:
1.) install Musecore on Win10 or Musescore Songbook on Android
If it's correct double-clicking an MSCZ file on Win10 opens the file in Musescore. On Android the file is opened in Musescore Songbook. Sometimes there's an issue with Songbook so that it is necessary to do it a second time or open Songbook before.
2.) copy the files from the attachment into the same folder of an Android or Win10 device with MSP. Rename BlindMary.mscz.txt to BlindMary.mscz (the forum doesn't accept MSCZ files as attachment)
3.) import BlindMary_D.pdf into MSP
4.) Open BlindMary_D.pdf in MSP. Clicking the link icon in the PDF opens the MSCZ in Musescore / Musescore Songbook
5.) Add a Smart Button to the PDF that also refers to BlindMary.mscz. It will work on Win10, it will fail on Android

German translation: "Öffnen Sie die Datei in der externen Anwendung" is not wrong, but "Eine Datei mit dem Standardprogramm öffnen" would be much better. I'd recommend replacing the text.

As was to be expected:

It doesn't work and same messages on 8.0 (on my Sony Xperia XZ1).

I will look into this as soon as I can. The fact that links in PDFs work but the smart buttons don't is definitely a red flag. They should be using the same basic code. Hopefully this means it will be easy to identify where the problem is.

A couple of lines of code were in the wrong order for smart buttons. I've made it match the code for triggering links through a PDF, so it should work now.

Thanks,

Is it possible to import smart buttons with csv?

Use case: I have 4 large pdf files with the same 600 songs for voices, piano, organ and guitar.  With the smart buttons I can quickly switch between  e.g. the organ score and the piano score during a performance. But there are about 7200 buttons to be defined... Smile
So I would like to create a import file to define all the snippets and the links between the snippets.

(for this particular use case support for song versions would be great)

That is not currently possible. I could look into supporting that in the future, but it would involve having to specify the exact coordinates for the smart buttons relative to the PDF raw page sizes, otherwise I wouldn't know where to place it on the score. Another option would be to use percentages of the page size to position the buttons. The annoying part about trying to support this in CSV is I would either have to come up with some format that would allow all of the smart button information (text on the button, location, potentially size in the future and action, which can include a file path) to be included in one column of the CSV, or I would need to add support for one column per piece of smart button data. Either way, it's kind of a pain to do that in CSV. If this would be useful to enough users, I can certainly consider putting in the work to support it though. Otherwise you could write a database script to insert the smart buttons for the songs, but that would take some work as well.
