Creating chord names from bass & trebles clefs
#1
I'm doing a lot of preparation for using MobileSheets with a wide variety of sheet music. I have several excellent books (e.g. Gershwin on Broadway) with full bass & treble clefs but no chord names, which doesn't work for me as I'm a piano chords player and singer with maybe an occasional one-note melody with my right hand (and terrible bass clef reader). Is there something out there that can read a scanned sheet and calculate the chord names automatically? If so, how best would I incorporate the result of that into Mobile Sheets so that I end up the chord names above the measures? There seems to be a software solution for everything else (all known by the folks who inhabit this forum), so I thought I'd give it a try.

You might take a look at MuseScore. It's open source and has a very helpful community.

MuseScore is great, but don't expect too much from those automatic recognition features.

MuseScore sheets can be exported as PDFs that can be easily imported into MSP.

Thanks so much! I just downloaded MuseScore 3 yesterday and will definitely explore those plug-ins once I figure out the basic program! I realize it's often a tricky thing to calculate a chord, but even a poor result will save me a lot of work and possibly add some new songs that I've owned for decades to my repertoire.
