Bug: OneDrive library backup is not working
#1
Hi there,

Unfortunately, it doesn't work for me to create a backup on Onedrive via "Settings - Backup and restore - Library backup".
As soon as the library has been compressed, the app crashes.

Is the error already known or does anyone else have it?

Thanks you.

FWIW, OneDrive worked fine for me on a Samsung S9+ tablet on Android 14, V3.9.7

I find OneDrive works better than Google Drive.

Short addition - I'm working on an iPad Pro 2021.

Is this with version 3.9.10 on iOS? I haven't received any crash reports related to a OneDrive upload, and I can't reproduce that myself. You may need to go to the tablet settings->Privacy, Analytics and Improvements, then turn on "Share iPad Analytics" and turn on "Share With App Developers" if you want me to receive crash reports though.

The same issue I have also with OneDrive with Apple iPad Pro 2024.
Workaround is to use googledrive.

Is there any think planned the next time to solve this?
Does Mobilesheets will support in future alternative cloud solutions like nextcloud oder ftp WebDav?

Thanks

I do want to support alternative cloud solutions like nextcloud soon. I can't reproduce any issues with OneDrive. I uploaded a 1.5 GB backup file without issues. If I can't reproduce issues, and I have no information about what is causing the failures (as they appear to be just due to connection interruptions), then I don't really have a way to address them. Microsoft barely supports OneDrive on iOS through their SDK, so I won't be getting any fixes or improvements from them.

I am working on modifying Microsoft's file upload code to make it more resilient to failures. At the moment, if any one chunk fails to upload, it just abandons the entire upload and reports a failure. I am modifying the code so that it will retry up to 5 times for any one chunk of data before giving up.

Hi Mike, thanks a lot. I know that IT is a challenging business. And I want to thank our excellent support team. You spent tons of hours troubleshooting without clear failure analyses, this can be annoying.

I do have the same issue using version 3.9.13 on an iPad. Trying to backup to Onedrive looks perfectly fine first. I can select the file location for the backup, enter the neame for the *.msg file and it even appears as if the backup db is getting created. There is no crash of the app. However, there is no backup file created on OneDrive. Backing up to the iPad itself works perfectly fine.

Side note: I am importing all my sheets from Onedrive and this works fine as well.
