  Screen Aspec Ratio
Posted by: TBone - 02-27-2025, 04:02 AM - Forum: MobileSheets (Android) - Replies (5)

I am selecting a tablet for reading music and wish to have the largest display possible.  I find android tablets have the largest displays but their aspect ratios are usually 16:10 which differs from the 4:3  ratio that sheet music usually has.  My question is  how much screen is wasted using a 16:10 aspect ratio?  iPads have 4:4 ratios but they don't have screens as large as some Android tablets.  Thanks.

  Annotations using two synced tabs
Posted by: rocosub - 02-25-2025, 01:26 PM - Forum: MobileSheets (Android) - Replies (1)

Hello everyone, I apologize for my English, as it's not my primary language, but I'll try to be as clear as possible.

I'm new to using this software, having previously relied on ForScore, but I'm looking to move away from Apple.

Currently, I'm testing the synchronization feature using two tablets.
One tablet displays odd-numbered pages, while the other shows even-numbered pages.
However, after ending a session and syncing the libraries, I've noticed that all annotations from the second tablet are lost.
As I'm not familiar with the underlying technology, I'd appreciate guidance on whether I'm doing something incorrectly.

To clarify, I sync the libraries before and after each session (two way).

I'm using version 3.8.43 on both Samsung Galaxy 9 Ultra devices.

Thank you for your attention.

  Multiple annotation sets
Posted by: palosanto - 02-25-2025, 07:29 AM - Forum: MobileSheets (Android) - Replies (2)

I have several students and usually I create a collection for each one containing the pieces or exercises that they are working on.
Very often I use the same piece, etude etc for several students but the annotations are always different for each student.
Is there a way to use the same piece but associate the specific set of annotations to each particular student and also include it in his/her collection without having to create a duplicate custom piece for each student?
Thanks

MobileSheet goes blank when using Split Screen
Posted by: MartinH - 02-21-2025, 01:41 PM - Forum: MobileSheets (Android) - Replies (5)

I've started using Android's split screen feature to show a keyboard on the bottom of the screen while reading music in MS. But if I do this while viewing a score in MS, the page turns blank grey with a loading icon. I can still tap to go bring up the navigation bar and go back to my library, then load a sheet.

The process to see this:
- View a score in MS
- Tap the Recent Apps button
- Long-press on the keyboard app (which was previously opened)
- Drag it to the bottom of the screen to split the screen
- The MS app turns grey
- Tap the MS screen to bring up the menu
- Tap the MS back button to go back to the library
- Open the score again

I'm not sure if MS is intended to be used in split screen, but it is nice to be able to use it with a keyboard.

I attached an image of the grey screen. I have a screen recording too, but can't seem to attach it.

  Bulk clearing of annotations
Posted by: IanMSpencer - 02-21-2025, 10:07 AM - Forum: MobileSheets (Android) - Replies (4)

A band mate has bought MobileSheets and as he is not a techie whizz I offered to set up a copy for him. I used the Companion to strip out songs that weren't relevant and created a backup for him to install, then restored my original version back. That was pretty easy by ordering by collection and selecting the spare songs.

The one thing I couldn't achieve was cleaning up my annotations.

I am now on Android 15 and on the Samsung A9+ Tab the data area which I was able to poke around in appears to have been locked down so I can't see how to get to the database, update it and replace it (though when I hacked at the companion copy and cleared out all the Annotation tables, it didn't like it and lost the connection to the files, and that database is not copied back as far as I can tell).

So is there a way to remove annotations in bulk? (I'd also like to clear out the MIDI commands in bulk for another band mate who is teetering on the brink of purchasing).

  Entering Music via Photo
Posted by: TBone - 02-21-2025, 03:43 AM - Forum: MobileSheets (Android) - Replies (2)

When taking a photo of music with a tablet and entering it into MobileSheets,  is it converted to pdf?  I ask because of the storage space saved by doing that.  Thanks

  Question about importing mp3 files
Posted by: kennetharms - 02-19-2025, 05:04 PM - Forum: MobileSheets (Android) - Replies (1)

Hello,
I tried to import mp3 files from my desktop through Companion.  I used batch import audio and it said that it had copied the files.  I can't find them.  Have I done it right?

ABC in .cho renders, but ABC file renders empty white screen
Posted by: chrisss - 02-19-2025, 06:52 AM - Forum: MobileSheets (Android) - Replies (5)

.txt   Speed the Plough test.abc.txt (Size: 210 bytes / Downloads: 5)
.cho   Speed the Plough test.cho (Size: 239 bytes / Downloads: 3)
Hi,
I'm on a Samsung SM-T350, Android 7.1.1, MS Pro 3.9.11 from Google Play.

I'd like to use ABC files, but they render an empty white screen when imported as an ABC file.

When I rename the file to ***.cho,
... add {start_of_abc} before the ABC code and
   ... {end_of_abc} at the end
-- with no changes to the ABC code itself --
it renders alright.

(just rename the ***.abc.txt back to ***.abc)

I'll appreciate any suggestions.

Mike I've seen on other posts that you're still working on a bunch of ABC issues, maybe changing out some libraries.
If it's easier to put this on hold and try it again when you suggest it's time - - that's fine for me.

Thanks for a terrific application.

Chris

Total setlist duration won't display even after entering song durations
Posted by: brooksca95 - 02-19-2025, 05:52 AM - Forum: MobileSheets (Android) - Replies (2)

Hi All, I have entered 31 song lyric files into the library page and have edited each file by manually entering the duration of the song.  I do not have any audio files, only the lyric pdf files. I went into Library Settings and checked the box for display setlist duration.  I left the audio files box unchecked, as I have no audio files. When I select my setlist, it shows the name up at the top with the number of songs in parentheses.  But I don't see the setlist duration anywhere.  Any ideas about what I should do?  I didn't think I would have to add up all the numbers I entered for each file.  I thought MobileSheets would do it somehow.

  Autoscroll question
Posted by: cousinsfan - 02-18-2025, 09:22 AM - Forum: MobileSheets (Android) - Replies (3)

Hi all,

Second post - ever - and in the same day!

Given the extensive options for autoscroll, I am wondering why there isn't an option for starting the scrolling when I start a/the track. That's when the...music starts, right?

Other than my other post about incidental music which would have possibly 2 tracks for a single pdf, I would have thought that starting the scrolling when the TRACK starts would have been a no-brainer.

Am i missing some use-case more obvious or basic?

Thanks in advance, all!
John
